Innovation Awards for GMP

The Traralgon Cemetery Trust has recently received two awards from the Cemeteries & Crematoria Association of Victoria for two innovative projects they have developed.

The first was for the Children’s Development Area where the old children’s plaques have been lifted and placed on sloping granite moulds to lift them off the ground for protection from the weather. The concrete beneath the granite beams has been replaced and tiered to make level on the sloping ground. Many of the plaques have been refurbished free of charge where the NOK has been able to be contacted for authorisation. This renovation has changed the look of the old Children’s Area and is now looking beautiful and renewed.

The second award was to use the funds in the Orthometals Account to offer the parents of stillborn and neo-natal babies, a cremation of their precious children at no charge and to present the ashes in a suitable urn. This has been widely taken up and appreciated.

As the only Crematorium in the Gippsland area this was an ideal situation to offer this project Gippsland wide through all the Funeral Directors and has been supported throughout the district and much appreciated.
